As a spirited person she loves people and likes enhancing their quality of life.
Born in Belgium in 1971, in the ‘90s she obtained a BHSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy and a PGCert in Health Research at the University of Leeds in the UK. She had articles published in the British Journal of Occupational Therapy, and spoke at their national conference. Misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome for 20 years, she had to rely on the health service she worked in. It let her down badly and took her to death's door. Once adrenal insufficiency, lupus and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome were identified, more respect and better care made her issues more manageable.
Despite her disappointment in the health and social systems in both countries, she had found happiness in the life she lead with her husband and their teenage son in a beautiful rural area in Belgium. In these Flemish Ardennes she enjoys gentle walks, crafting and of course reading and writing.
1. What genre(s) do you write?
I have one book out so far, which is my non-fiction memoir: Recognize Me
2. Do you have a newly released novel? What is the title and a link to buy the novel?
For novels I would need a lot more imagination. I have a feeling my writing career will remain in non-fiction.
My memoir Recognise ME was released on the 15th of May '24
3. Are there any other social media links, websites, or other places to learn about you that we should add?
5. What is your favorite part of being an author?
Hard to choose one, but I think the crafting of the sentences, looking to draw the reader into the story, engaging the audience through choice of words, structure, grammar, style. In other words, the crafting of the book.
6. Are you traditionally- or self-published?
I went for hybrid publishing with Raven Crest Books, which suited me perfectly.
7. If you could give any advice to a new writer/author, what would it be?
Make sure you connect with your audience during the whole process of creating your book, so they are chomping at the bit to buy it as soon as it is available. Know why it is important to YOU to write, and enjoy the process!
