Charlotte Stein is the RT- and DABWAHA-nominated author of over fifty short stories, novellas and novels, including When Grumpy Met Sunshine, a book The New York Times called “a triumph”. When not writing deeply emotional and intensely sexy books, she can be found eating jelly turtles, getting way too excited over a million movies and TV shows, and occasionally lusting after moustaches. She lives in Leeds with her family.

1. What genre(s) do you write?

I write erotic romance, contemporary romance, paranormal romance and romcoms.

2. Do you have a newly released novel? What is the title and a link to buy the novel?

I have a new book out now called Dealing With A Desperate Demon, and here’s the link:

3. Are there any other social media links, websites, or other places to learn about you that we should add?

4. If you are traditionally published, who is your agent? If you are self-published, what publishing software do you prefer/ who is your publisher?

My agent is Courtney Miller-Callihan of Handspun Lit, and my publishers are Avon and St Martin’s Press.

5. You’ve published over fifty short stories, novellas and novels. How did you start out?

I started by sending a short story to the now defunct Black Lace erotica line! They regularly had calls for submission for anthologies, and after my first attempt got a yes, the editor asked me to write my own collection of short stories.

6. What’s the most surprising thing you learned while writing your books?

I’m not sure! It always surprises me that my stories fall into place the way they do. Sometimes it’s almost mystical.

7. How should a reader approach your novels eg. series wise/spice wise?

All my books are standalones, but I think it’s more fun to start with When Grumpy Met Sunshine and then progress to My Big Fat Fake Marriage, and similarly start with How To Help A Hungry Werewolf then progress to Dealing With A Desperate Demon. And with my backlist, Sheltered then Beyond Repair, Never Loved then Never Sweeter and Never Better.

8. How do you target your audience? Eg. Where do you find them? How do you entice/approach them? etc. Or do you just do your marketing and events and know that the right people for your book will find you?

I just tried to be myself on social media mostly!

9. What do you do with your free time when you’re not writing?

The cinema is my love. We tend to go a couple of times a week! And I also love reading obviously, watching shows, card making.

10. Who is your favourite author/s? And why?

My fave authors are Kazuo Ishiguro, Emma Holly, Talia Hibbert, Olivia Dade, Stephen King, Martha Wells, Ursula Le Guin, Octavia Butler and Tracy Deonn.

11. What are two fun facts about you?

I’m practically nocturnal, and I write on an iPad.

12. If you could give any advice to a new writer/author, what would it be?

Just keep going. As much as you are able, keep going. You never know what’s around the corner.
